What We Do

At Balcones Fitness you’ll find a gym like no other. We have a broad range of members simply trying to better themselves. We work hard, have fun, and strive for excellence each day. We  live out the Kaizen principle of daily improvement. It doesn’t matter where you begin here at BCF, we help you improve and better yourself each and every day.

We take all of the guess work out of training. All you have to do is show up and here’s what we’ll provide:

Training

At Balcones Fitness we do a little bit of everything. Our goal is to develop balanced fitness using a variety of proven training methods. We’ll lift weights, dumbbells, and kettlebells. We’ll pick things up and carry them. You’ll learn to move your body through performing various gymnastics movements like pull ups and bear crawls. And we’ll use traditional aerobic exercises like running and rowing to keep you moving. We combine these elements in various forms and fashions to give you a different workout every day and fight off the boredom often found in traditional gyms.

Our goal is balance, so you’ll improve strength, work capacity, and endurance all while losing fat and getting in the best shape of your life! We like to say that we are able to lift more than runners and run faster than lifters. Become a jack-of-all-trades in fitness.

We are also one of few gyms that progress you into the skills required for our group classes. We have separate programs designed to gradually introduce you to CrossFit while increasing your fitness base, without throwing everything at you all at once.

We offer group classes to support camaraderie and give you the extra push to reach your fitness goals. All of our classes are coached by qualified and trained coaches to make sure you are executing the workouts safely and effectively.

Programming

Our programming is more than just throwing random movements on a whiteboard to see what sticks. It is what separates Balcones Fitness from the rest of the myriad of gyms in Austin.

Our program is meticulously planned weeks and months in advance, all with the goal of developing balanced fitness. We’ll progress you through hilario OHSstrength and skill work as well as training the various energy systems.

We draw a line between training and testing. Training is what we do in the gym every day. There is an end goal in mind outside of the daily workout, more than just leaving you tired and sweaty. Testing is how we track your progress. We have developed numerous tests that we’ll run in class frequently to track your progress. You’ll know if you’re making gains, not just guessing.

Coaching

All of our coaches are required to go through a 3-6 month training process before they’re even allowed on the floor to coach. We take coaching seriously as quality coaching is one of the keys to a successful training program.

Our coaches are well versed in the core movements that we teach and will work extensively with you on technique and form. They will make sure that you are performing each workout properly with good form and intensity and are eliciting the desired response from your body.

Community

Our community of athletes and coaches provides a warm, welcoming, and friendly environment to train in. Both your coaches and your fellow athletes are invested in your success and want to see you succeed. We strive to make our gym feel like a second home.
